On November 8, 2017 the annual students festival StudTechFest, arranged by Noosphere Engineering School, was held in the DIIT assembly hall. There were inspiring lectures by mentors, as well as oral project presentations by students. For example, there were a handcrafted mars rover, copter, smart socket, laser pointer, and a device that transmits touch at a distance.
A special note should be made for one of the students projects PowerBox designed by mentors and students of Engineering School and given to the rector of the university Aleksandr Nikolaevich Pshinko as a present from Association Noosphere, founded by Max Polyakov. PowerBox is a tool for charging and saving your mobile devices.
The authors of the project are the fifth-year students of the Technical Cybernetics Faculty of DIIT Tatyana Demina and Nikita Frolov. Nowadays their creative team has grown to six members. All of them are the students of the same faculty.
The idea of one-size-fits-all charge for phones, tablets and other mobile devices came to Tatyana and Nikita two years ago, when they participated in Innovative tournament, arranged by Association Noosphere. The students of Oles Honchar Dnipro National University and Dnipropetrovsk National University of Railway Transport named after Academician V. Lazaryan had to create a device for their Alma mater. PowerBox took the first place and won a grant from Noosphere Engineering School.
Nowadays PowerBox is placed at the home faculty of the developers team. It looks like a multi-compartment locker, where you can leave and charge gadgets. There are multi-operated usb ports, that fits most typical devices. You have to use your fingerprint to unlock your box. So, your gadgets are safe.
The team are going to build another PowerBox for students of Oles Honchar Dnipro National University. In future these boxes may appear in many other public places (malls, gyms, cafes, hospitals).
PowerBox team invite everyone to express their opinion about this project. Also, they are open to new ideas.
